Slow Rainy Mornings

It's raining this morning.  We are taking our time getting started with school.  In the meantime, the girls have been filling our coffee table with stencil drawings and Mathias has been reading on the front porch.  I am sipping my coffee while a heat pack warms my back (deadlifts last night).  This week has been lovely getting things done and spending time together.  It's seasons like this that fill my heart and soul to the brim with peace.

Mathias Style

I was feeling brave today and gave this sweet boy a new hair cut.  He loves it and it no longer is growing over his ears, so I am happy.  This boy just blesses my heart.  He is such a thoughtful young man and I couldn't imagine sending him away all day to a government school.  I have never been more convinced that home, our nest, is where he belongs at this sweet tender age of learning.

31 in FL.

I was able to spend the weekend visiting my sister for our 31st birthday!
I arrived on Thursday night.  On Friday we headed to the Tattoo Shop to get my 1/2 sleeve finished
Dad sent us a giant edible bouquet which we quickly dismantled to eat before realizing we didn't take a picture of it.  It was very tasty though.  The chocolate pineapple pieces were our fav.
Friday night we went to see the new Star Trek movie and eat A-mazing tacos.
Saturday we slept in and then headed to the Dali museum for brunch- at 4pm.  That's a thing right?!
Saturday night we got all dolled up and had a special dinner at the famous steak house Bern's.  Apparently, they have the largest private wine collection in all of North America, I believe.  It was lovely.  We even did the tour and saw the 20 and 30 thousand dollar bottles of win in the cellar.
After dinner you can opt to go to the dessert ROOM.  It's upstairs and you sit in these old barrels that are very private and there is a piano player and everything.  It made me cry- which made my sister cry.
On Sunday we headed over to Universal b/c it's what we do.
We had the same guy to take a picture with at the Knight Bus as last year, which was super fun!
This year, since we had strictly done Harry Potter last year we wanted to try out more of the park.
Like the new King Kong ride which was the longest and hottest and scariest wait ever.  There were these freaky aboriginal guys that hid in the walls and jumped out at you as you would walk by.  All of the kids cried in line.  I cried on the inside.
Monday morning we parted ways and cried some more.  Happy 31st year Nikki!  I sure do love you.  Like a lot.

Half way

We are half way through our 1st week back and it’s been a whirlwind of facts, checklists, narration, a few tears, good books, chores, bible ...
