We put aside the books and worksheets today in order to harvest nearly 60 black walnuts. The kids peeled them and washed them. Now they are curing for about 2 weeks in the garage. When they are completely dried out we will crack them with a hammer and wire snip the nut meat out. It's very labor intensive but they loved doing it. Now all of our fingers, despite wearing gloves, are stained black and yellow from the pulp.
