Bye JJ

 

Said good-bye to a sweet friend today.  Her and her family are off to Texas. 

Frog & Toad

 

We absolutely adored Frog and Toad.  It was a musical and was so funny!  We will have to go back for more shows at the Nashville Children's Theater for sure. 

Prairie Skirts

 

We have spent the entire day sewing.  And we have a lot of cute items to show for it and several almost-finished items to work on another time. 

A boy and his book

 

This kids is always reading.  I can't keep enough library books on hand. 

Audio Books

 

We have incorporated tons of audio books to our routine and we are loving them!  The kids got their own headphones as well. 

Crayfish boil

 

My crossfit crew has an annual crawfish boil.  Eric ate them- I did not.  Yuck. 

Mail Flowers

 

You would never know that this little project took hours of digging and sorting and buying of plants and flowers and mulch.  But what a difference.  Our wonderful landlords also mulched the entire front area!  

Ice Age Science

 

We grew crystals, formed fake snow and squished fake ice.  They kids loved it.  It was messy. 

Tea & Roses

 

Honestly, school didn't sound too appealing this morning so we turned it into a tea party.  And then we noticed my first full rose of the season.  It smells beautiful. 

Berry Update

 

The bushes on our property now have very berry-esk looking flowers.  We will check back soon!

She made butter for her "Cow" unit in school and it was very yummy!

Vintage Charm

 

Today I planted baby succulents in some vintage tea cups to adorn my window sill. They turned out lovely.

Homestead Manor

 

Finally, we tried out a local farm-to-table historic manor for dinner and it made for a wonderful date night.  They sat us in the old library/man cave and we enjoyed meals of fresh local food.  I highly recommend it. 

Injury day

 

She fell off the swing and I did 75 pullups.  Geesh! 

Measure it

 

Hands-on-Math today using different units of measurement.

While the big kids attended their spring homeschool classes and learned all about animal senses Brielle and I explored the Nashville zoo again. 

 

We hit a few BIG wins for this little girl too.  She is terrified of most animals (not turtles-she loves those) but today she unlatched her death grip on me to pet and brush some goats.  It was amazing! 

 

Then we picked up the big kids and we went straight to feed Brielle's favorite turtles. 

 

The coin machine wasn't working to buy the leaves but some very kind strangers gave some to all of the kids and they were so excited. 

 

Then we found the bird sanctuary and fed them nectar which they went crazy for!  

 

3 landed on my arm- so basically I felt like a Disney princess.  Favorite thing ever! 

 

Brielle even found a turtle to ride on.  She was scared at first but then really enjoyed the ride. 

 

Last, we visited the old historic farm and learned so much history.  It was lovely and we all decided we want to live there. 

Berries?!

 

We found tons of these bushes lining our driveway on our new land.  I am thinking they might be some kind of berry.  We will have to check back soon and find out for sure.
